Allestree Woodlands School's Governing Body

Allestree Woodlands School is a Single Academy Trust. Our governors play an important role in trying to ensure that every student in the school gets the best possible education.

Governors are required by Law to focus on three core strategic functions:

  1. Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;

  2. Holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, plus the performance management of staff;

  3. Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.

The Governing Body are the strategic leaders of the school. The Headteacher with her Senior Leadership Team lead and manage the school on a day-to-day basis. The Full Governing Body meets five times a year.  In addition there are two main committees that deal with issues in more detail, namely Resources & Students.

The Governing Body consists of members including parents, staff, and appointed governors recruited due to their particular skills and expertise.

If you have any questions regarding the work of the Governing Body please contact the Chair of Governors, Dr Rowland Travis, on 01332 551921 or email chairofgovernors@woodlands.derby.sch.uk
